Special Hot Spring(s) Tour – 9 Days

This unique 9 – Day Special Hot Spring(s) Tour is all about “Balance & Back to Basics”. Suitable as a Pre-Cruise-Land Tour that starts in Calgary and ends in Vancouver.

Indigenous wisdom and tradition will be combined with modern comfort and technology. This itinerary is build to “take it easy” and to simply pamper your Body, Mind & Soul with pure and natural resources, retreats and roots, influenced by nature, water & weather. We will take you on a journey of relaxation and rejuvenation that is filled with Natural, Historical, Cultural & Traditional ingredients.

Highlights of this unique tour are the visits to various enchanting Natural Hot Springs, named Nupika wu’u (hot mineral or spirit waters) by the First Nations and embraced for their healing and rejuvenating powers due to the average warm temperature (around 40 degrees Celsius) and the calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, lithium and silica substances in this therapeutic spring water.

This Special Hot Springs Tour takes us from the prairies and foothills right into the Canadian Rocky Mountains and from Banff National Park into Kootenay National Park, then via Thompson Okanagan Valley into Wells Gray Provincial Park. Time to relax and indulge in the various selected real natural and healing hot springs along the way, all situated in beautiful natural surroundings. Explore stunning waterfalls and enjoy a “Surprise Luncheon” with a real handmade Belgian Chocolate Class from Callebaut Master Chocolatiers, followed by a cozy campfire BBQ dinner on a local family farm/ranch. What else is there to wish for…

We drive via Banff National Park into Kootenay National Park on our way to Fairmont Hot Springs where we’ll check into our hotel for two nights. Time to relax and enjoy this beautiful Fairmont Hot Springs Resort, a renowned local favorite around here, famous for their natural hot spring pools and golf course and where the ancient original pools are just a walk away from the parking lot. Soak in Canada’s largest mineral rich and natural Hot Springs Pools or play a game of golf. The mountain views around here are simply spectacular.

Day 2: Fairmont Hot Springs – Radium Hot Springs – Fairmont Hot Springs

This morning we’re taking you to the little nearby resort town Radium Hot Springs where we will explore the little village, and enjoy some rejuvenating wellness in the Historical Radium Hot Springs pool. After our return to the noon at leisure.

Day 3: Fairmont Hot Springs – Ainsworth Hot Springs

After breakfast it’s time to continue our journey through the beautiful “Kootenays” towards another exceptional and Natural Hot Springs Resort. This one even has caves! Indulge, enjoy & relax. We will check in for one night at the Ainsworth Hot Springs.

Day 4: Ainsworth Hot Springs – Halcyon Hot Springs

Today we’ll continue to our next enchanting Hot Springs Resort, located in Halcyon, near the beautiful Upper Arrow Lake and with wonderful views of the Monashee Mountains, where we will check in here for two nights in order to take full advantage of the “healing” powers of the resort and their historical natural hot springs.

The Halcyon Hot Springs Story:
While First Nations people in the Arrow Lakes area were aware of the hot springs at Halcyon for centuries, the first European to recognize the potential of these healing natural hot springs was Captain Robert Sanderson. Sanderson, a university-educated engineer who operated a steamship on the Arrow Lakes, had a close relationship with the local First Nations who helped him locate the source of the springs. Soon later, Sanderson staked his future on the hot springs when he bought 400 acres of crown land in 1890 and built a hotel equipped with a series of wooden “plunges” that let guests soak in the superheated mineral water, which was believed even then to aid in a variety of illnesses – from rheumatism to strokes.

Day 5: Halcyon Hot Springs

Full day at leisure here at the Halcyon Hot Springs Resort.

Day 6: Halcyon Hot Springs – Clearwater

Today we have to bridge a bit of a long distance of approx. 450 km (280 miles) but not to worry, it’s a very scenic drive into the Thompson Okanagan region. We will check into our accommodation in Clearwater for the next two nights in order to take enough time to explore this amazingly beautiful region. This time there will be no hot springs to enjoy but beautiful and relaxing nature & waterfalls as well as some very nice and local surprises!

Day 7: Clearwater

Today is a Fully Fun day. First stop are the beautiful Helmcken Falls and on our way back there are the Spahat Falls that we need to see and where another nice surprise awaits us. Then it’s time for the real deal of the day… Handmade Belgian Chocolate Class by Callebaut Master Chocolatiers Johan and Maryse. In the late afternoon, early evening we’ll drive up to another waterfall and if you’d like to walk behind it, well guess what? You actually can! Then it’s about time for a nice dinner. We’ve made arrangements for a simple but truly authentic farm/cowboy/ranch campfire BBQ before we call it a day…

Day 8: Clearwater – Whistler

We continue our journey today towards Whistler, a former ski-resort town that after the 2010 winter Olympics became a vibrant all-year tourism destination. Let’s go back into the mountains and enjoy Whistler.
