Canada’s Rockies, Desert & Island Tour

This Amazing 12 Days Pre-Cruise Land Tour takes us from the Rocky Mountains into Canada’s only desert region with their famous wineries, through the Fraser Valley, on a BC Ferry to cross over the Strait of Georgia, sailing in-between the Gulf Islands on our way to Vancouver Island. Suitable as a Pre-Cruise Land Tour that starts in Calgary and ends in Vancouver.

This wonderful and relaxing tour takes us from the Calgary prairies and foothills straight into the Majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains. From there we’ll drive to the South and into the only Canadian Desert region to learn all about the Canadian wine industry. Our journey continues on a scenic route through the Thomson Okanagan and Vancouver Coast region to embark on a BC Ferry vessel that sails in-between the Gulf Islands to Vancouver Island. Here we will visit the famous and beautiful Butchart Gardens and the Capital City of BC, Victoria. Then continue further to the Pacific Rim, located on the beautiful and unspoiled western part of the Island, before it’s time to sail back to the mainland and into Vancouver City, where this tour will end.

Day 1: Calgary – Field

We start our Tour in Calgary in the morning and drive straight into Banff National Park to visit the famous little mountain town of Banff and then we’ll continue to Lake Louise to visit two stunningly beautiful lakes. From there we’ll drive further to Field where we will stay in a resort, situated at another stunningly beautiful lake, so which lake is the winner for you today? This location is so beautiful that we want to stay here for two nights.

Day 2: Field

In the morning we will take you on a little local sightseeing tour and after that there’s leisure time to sit back and enjoy this fabulous resort and it’s natural environment. Hiking along the lake is a great option or, go over the lake in a canoe perhaps?

Day 4: Field – Jasper

Today we continue our journey along the scenic Icefield Parkway where there is so much “pureness” to explore! Lakes, Canyons, Glaciers & Falls, and wildlife. After multiple stops we’ll arrive in Jasper where we’ll stay for the next two nights.

Day 5: Jasper

After breakfast we will take you on a sightseeing tour in and around Jasper. The afternoon is at leisure in this nice and small mountain town.

Day 6: Jasper – Clearwater

Today we’ll continue our journey towards Wells Gray Provincial Park where we will check in for one night. First stop is at the highest point of the Canadian Rockies; Mount Robson, then we leave the province of Alberta and drive into BC (British Columbia), time zone change here as well from mountain time to pacific time. Once we arrive in Wells Gray Provincial Park there will be a nice surprise awaits you and you’ll get spoiled with local food & falls before we drive to our hotel where we’ll check in for one night.

Day 7: Clearwater – Kelowna

Further South it goes, towards Canada’s only desert region and Kelowna will be our next destination to stay for one night. This scenic drive takes us into Okanagan Country with some beautiful orchards and vineyards along the way and of course, while we are here, we need to visit one of these prestige wineries for some wine-tasting!

Day 8: Kelowna – Victoria

This morning we’ll continue our journey over the Coquihalla Highway into the Fraser Valley, which is another wonderful natural and mostly agricultural region where we will have a nice lunch stop before driving into the Greater Vancouver area and on our way to the BC Ferry Terminal in Tsawwassen for our scheduled vessel to Vancouver Island. After we disembark we drive straight to the Butchart Gardens where you can enjoy the beautiful multi-themed gardens. From there it goes directly to our hotel in Victoria where we will check-in for two nights.

Day 9: Victoria

Full day at leisure in Victoria.

Day 10: Victoria – Tofino

Today we are going on another scenic route that eventually brings us to Tofino, located in the traditional territory of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation, at the heart of the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Region. Tofino is a small coastal village at the western edge of Vancouver Island. The community is diverse, but united in our determination to protect the awe-inspiring natural and cultural environments. After all, everything in Tofino is connected: from the kelp in the Pacific Ocean, to the black bears of the rainforest, to the people who call this place home. This is how they thrive. There’s an energy to Tofino, something you can’t quite shake once you’ve experienced it. We think you’ll love it so we stay and enjoy it all for the next 3 days/2 nights.

Day 11: Tofino – Pacific Rim

After breakfast we will drive to Ucluelet and walk the Wild Pacific Trail. The afternoon is at leisure with plenty to see or do, like Henry Vickers Native Art Gallery, little shops and restaurants or the many optional activities to explore here in Tofino, from whale watching, wildlife watching to an evening visit at the natural hot springs.

Day 12: Tofino – Vancouver

Time to leave Tofino this morning to make our way back to the mainland again. After a nice lunch break in Coombs we are sailing from Nanaimo to Horseshoe Bay and drive to Vancouver where we will drop you of at the YVR Airport, your hotel or near the Cruise Terminal. This is the end of our tour.
