The temple attracts thousands of pilgrims and visitors every year, who come to witness its religious ceremonies, particularly during the Esala Perahera, a grand annual procession in honor of the tooth relic.
Inside, there are several chambers where the relic is kept, and it is displayed to the public only during special ceremonies.
